Bigfork’s boys and girls track teams already have one meet under their belts but the season is just beginning.

Twenty five boys and 18 girls turned out for track this year, and it looks as though many of the juniors will carry the team.

“We’ve got some pretty good junior athletes,” said assistant coach Wayne Loeffler. “We’re pretty excited about it.”

Returning juniors on the boys’ side include Josh Sandry in the high jump, javelin, 100 meters and 400 meters; Tyler Piazzola in the long jump, triple jump, high jump and javelin; Tyler Iverson in shot put and discus, and Carson Cantrell in hurdles, pole vault and the 800 meter.

Juniors on the girls’ side include Makena Morley in the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 and high jump; Riley Coleman in javelin, shot put and discus; Courtney George in long jump, triple jump and high jump, and Megan Pancoast in hurdles and pole vault.

Other strong athletes on the boys’ team are seniors Cameron Nissen in long jump, triple jump and high jump, Jesse Mueller in the 100 and 200 meters; sophomores Logan Morley in the 800, 1600, and 3200 and Ross Coleman in shot put and discus. And freshman Matt Farrier in the 100, 200 and 400 meter runs.

For the girls, other returning athletes are seniors Ellessa Henion in long jump and triple jump, Tessa Robertson in shot put and discus and Emily Cheroski in the 200, and 400 meter runs, and sophomores Mattie McAnally in pole vault and hurdles and Miranda Campbell in shot put, discus and javelin.
