Othello takes two from Ephrata, remains undefeated

OTHELLO - So far, Othello softball has been a buzzsaw this season.
After its latest two-game sweep against Ephrata, Othello (6-0, 8-0) sits in second place in the CWAC behind fellow unbeaten, Ellensburg.
The Huskies took both games against the Tigers by scores of 15-0 and 12-0, pushing the team's total to four shutouts on the season. Othello's defense and pitching staff has been especially stingy, only allowed seven runs all season.
The Huskies, on average, score just over 13 runs per game.
In game one against Ephrata, Dominique Martinez stifled the Tiger bats to the tune of a two-hit shutout. Tori Zambrano, Madison Martinez and Lidize Deleon were all 2 for 3 in the rout.
Madison Martinez homered in the first game and followed her stellar performance with a one-hit shutout against the Tigers in the nightcap.
Kirsten Quigley homered for the Huskies in game two.
Mariah Deleon, Lidize Deleon and Hadassi Valdez all doubled.
Othello will travel to face West Valley (Yakima) on Saturday. The Rams are currently 6-0 in the CWAC and have only lost to Montesano this season.
Other Basin results
After winning four straight, Ephrata baseball (3-5, 5-5) was swept by Ellensburg. The Tigers dropped both games, 9-5 and 6-5. The two losses dropped the Tigers to fifth place in the CWAC.
Othello baseball (2-5, 3-6) split its games with West Valley (Yakima). The Huskies took game one, 7-4, before losing the nightcap, 9-5. Othello sits in sixth place in the CWAC.
Quincy softball (0-3, 3-6) lost both sides of a twin bill to Brewster recently, 11-8 and 14-7.
The Jacks fell to second to last place in the CTL.
Quincy baseball (0-3, 3-6) had similar bad luck and lost both its games to Brewster, 7-4 and 12-6. Jacks baseball is also in second to last place in the CTL.
Warden baseball (7-3) took both games against Royal recently, 7-6 and 18-1. The Cougars trail Connell (9-1) for first place in the SCAC East.
Big Bend sweeps Wenatchee Valley
Big Bend (4-8, 14-10) snapped its losing streak and inserted itself back into the NWAACC East playoff picture with two wins against Wenatchee Valley recently.
The Vikings rode a four-run first inning toward a 6-2 win in game one. In the nightcap, the explosive Big Bend offense returned and the Vikings routed Wenatchee Valley, 12-2.
Jacob Yamane was 3 for 4 with four RBIs.
