There will be several new course offerings at the high school and middle school levels in Kalispell Public Schools.

Some of the classes fulfill the district’s new requirement for high school students to have three years of math. The new math courses are designed for both career- and college-bound students.

Other courses that will be introduced are part of the district’s Project Lead the Way Science, Technolology, Engineering and Math Academy at Glacier High School, Flathead High School’s new Biomedical Science program and Kalispell Middle School’s Gateway to Technology program.

Additional Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses round out new high school courses that were approved Tuesday by the school board. Most of the courses will be offered for the 2014-15 school year.

 Biomedical Science: Principles of the Biomedical Sciences

 Biomedical Science 2: Human Body Systems (offered for the 2015-16 school year)

 Biomedical Science 3: Medical Interventions (offered for the 2016-17 school year)

 Biomedical Science 4: Biomedical Innovation (offered for the 2017-18 school year)

 Culinary Arts 3: ProStart (students will have the opportunity to earn national certification in safety and sanitation from the National Restaurant Association)
