John E. "Tim" Timpani, Sr.

John E. "Tim" Timpani, Sr., 90, a resident of Moses Lake passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at Samaritan Hospital. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2014 at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2014 at Kayser's Chapel.

Born in Lynn, Massachusetts in 1923 to Frank and Elizabeth Timpani, John was the 6th of 8 children. He attended Breed High School in Lynn, Mass. and at 18, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC).

At the outbreak of World War II, John was drafted into the Army and stationed overseas with the 1st Infantry Division Campaigns: European, African, Middle Eastern Theater, Normandy D-Day invasion, Belgium, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Sicily, and Korean Campaign. In 1949, he was assigned to Larson AFB in Moses Lake, Washington.

John married Ruth Burress in 1951 and raised 3 children, Nancy, Jan, and John, Jr. He worked at Samaritan Hospital as Plant Supervisor and owned Lakeside Florist Shop. He also had a paint contracting business with his son, John, Jr. in Moses Lake. In February of 1956, John helped bring the Army Reserve Unit Btry B 336 to Moses Lake.

Survivors include Jan and John, Jr.; sister, Norma Gassland of Dallas, Texas; and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Nancy; and brother, Bud Timpani of Lynn, Massachusetts.
