Robert "Bob" E. Cox, 91, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2014, at Hospice House in Coeur d'Alene.

Robert was born November 14, 1922, in Los Angeles, Calif., the only child of Joseph and Lillian (Landmeier) Cox. During World War II, he was in the Army Air Corp stationed in Sioux City, Iowa. Here, Robert met and married Virginia in 1946.

Robert and Virginia returned to Orange County, Calif., and lived there until moving to Hayden, Idaho, in 1999. In his early years, Robert was a salesman. His last job was as a city building inspector in California. Robert's passion was building homes. Over the course of his life, Robert built six family residences. He drafted the house plans, did all aspects of construction, and even completed the landscape.

In 2011, Robert and Virginia moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Robert last resided at Renaissance Assisted Community, where he thrived with their good care.

Bob was the ultimate gentleman in manners and dress, and loved maintaining his residence by whatever means it took.

Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Virginia, and their son, Gary. He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Connie and Steve Wesson, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; and one grandson, Dylan Cox-Wesson, of Portland, Ore.

At Robert's request, there will be no memorial service. The family suggests memorials on behalf of Robert be made to the Kootenai Humane Society, P.O. Box 1005, Hayden, ID 83835. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, in charge of arrangements. Please sign Robert's guest registry and view his online memorial at: www.englishfuneralchapel.com
