ROYAL CITY - The Royal High School wrestlers, who finished 11th at state in coach Randy Miller's first season, will be honored with a banquet on Monday, April 21.
About a month later, on Saturday, May 17, the wrestlers will organize a community yard sale to raise funds for the program.
The banquet will be held in the high school cafeteria, starting at 6:30 p.m. It will be a potluck with "many" desserts, Miller said.
"Everyone is invited to attend and be part of the celebration of a great year on and off the mat," he added. "It also gives the coaches a chance to share supportive comments toward wrestlers and events that occurred during the season. The team would appreciate the community support."
Potluck plates of any kind from the community will not be turned down. Food and wrestlers get along just fine, Miller said.
The yard sale will be held in the Royal Middle School parking lot from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Proceeds will go to the Royal Wrestling NIC Camp.
To make donations or for questions, call Miller at 939-4580 or rmiller@royal.wednet.edu.
Cash donations will gladly be accepted, Miller said.
