The Bureau of Reclamation recently awarded a $5.5 million contract to Koontz Electric Company, Inc., of Morrilton, Ark., for electrical construction services at the Hungry Horse Dam.
The contract includes designing, furnishing, installing, testing and commissioning one replacement 2,400-volt station service distribution system, two replacement 480-volt station service distribution systems, two new 15-kilovolt disconnect switches, and one 2,400-volt engine generator set. The work is expected to be completed by Dec. 31.
“This project is just one way the Bureau of Reclamation is working to maximize efficient and reliable power production for customers across a large area of the Northwest,” facility operations manager Dennis Philmon said.
Koontz Electric Company is a diversified heavy industrial electrical contractor and has been in business for more than 50 years. For more information on the Hungry Horse Dam, visit online at www.usbr.gov/pn/hungryhorse.
