A group of Columbia Falls residents are hoping to draw awareness about climate change with a rally on Saturday, April 26, at the corner of Nucleus Avenue and U.S. 2.

The event is just one of many planned in communities statewide, organizer Diane Taylor said.

“We’re losing the planet,” Taylor said. “I think we need to put some limits on ourselves. You don’t have to have everything you see. There’s enough for everyone if we can use a little restraint.”

The rally will advocate a clean, healthy Montana and support positive climate solutions.

Taylor said she’s worried about trains loaded with oil from the Bakken oil fields in North Dakota rolling through the landscape, as well as the industrial development of the tar sands oil fields in Alberta.

About 40 people are expected to attend the rally, and anyone can join them. It starts at noon and runs until 1 p.m.
