MOSES LAKE - Advance registration is open through Friday for the Grant County Mayor's Prayer Breakfast, scheduled for 7 to 9 a.m. May 6 at the ATEC building on the Big Bend Community College campus.

The prayer breakfast is sponsored by the Moses Lake chapter of the Kiwanis. Advance registration is encouraged, but tickets will be available at the door, said Juanita Richards, the Grant County organizer.

The local event is modeled on the prayer breakfast hosted by the president each February, she said. "We're all coming together to pray for each other," Richards said.

The idea is to get people together, in support of each other, she said. "A sense of community, that we're all working for the same goal," she said.

David Krueger is the guest speaker. Krueger is a native of Moses Lake and graduate of Central Washington University; he founded Grace Fellowship Church in Baltimore, Md., which eventually grew to a network of 11 churches.

Currently Krueger is affiliated with Search Ministries, which is designed to "create opportunities for stimulating, sensitive and respectful dialogue for those who wrestle with the big questions of life," according to its website.

Krueger is a chaplain for the PGA (Professional Golf Association) tour and the PGA Champions Tour. Previously he was a chaplain for the Baltimore Orioles, and the city's two NFL franchises, the Colts and the Ravens.

The breakfast provides time for prayer and reflection as a group, Richards said. "Everybody coming together in our common area. A meeting of friends."
