Fairbanks, AK. - Single goals in the second and third were all the Fairbanks Ice Dogs would need, as they skated to a 2-0 win over the Wenatchee Wild Monday night, in game three of the NAHL's Midwest Division finals at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.

The first period was back-and-forth, but neither team was able to score in a period in which Fairbanks outshot the Wild 9-6.

The Ice Dogs opened the scoring with a second period shorthanded goal. Colton Wolter got credit for the counter, assisted by Duggie Lagrone at 12:12, making it 1-0 in favor of Fairbanks.

Yannick Vedel scored late in the third period for the Ice Dogs, with the assist going to Brett Gervais at 14:14. Fairbanks held on from there and won the game, 2-1. "Obviously, we've got to go back and make some adjustments on the power play" said Wenatchee Wild Head Coach Bliss Littler. "We had some good chances tonight; obviously they made a couple of more plays than we did. We're a team that's lived and died with the power play all year. We need to find a way to get some pucks to the net. Overall, I thought we played pretty well, they (Fairbanks) took advantage of a couple of miscues."

Wenatchee outshot the Ice Dogs on the night, 25-19. Chase Perry (Andover, Minnesota) made 17 saves for the Wild; Kevin Aldridge had 25 stops for Fairbanks. Wenatchee went 0-for-4 on the power play and 5-of-5 on the penalty kill.

The Ice Dogs lead the best-of-five series, 2-1.

The series now shifts to Wenatchee for game 4 on Friday, April 25th and game 5, if necessary, on Saturday, April 26th. Faceoff time is 7:05 p.m. Individual and group game tickets for all home playoff games are on sale now. Call 509-888-PUCK (7825).
