CURRIE: Vote for a positive leader
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years, 7 months AGO
Responsible positive leadership is needed in our legislature, and sending Rick Currie as our representative will give us that opportunity. I first met Rick when we were involved in the Junior Chamber of Commerce. The JC’s were volunteering to help the community by building playgrounds, raising funds for charity, and one of the last JC projects that Rick was working on was to acquire the last piece of Tubbs Hill for the community. Rick helped make that happen.
As a County Commissioner, Rick was concerned about folks who were losing their properties to tax sales. He asked for the addresses and made the effort to go see and talk to anyone who was in that situation. He helped people keep their properties wherever he could with payment plans, etc. One example was a widow whose husband had always taken care of things. She was a week away from losing her home when Rick knocked on her door. She wrote a check that day, she just did not know how serious it could have been.
Another example of positive leadership is the Lake City Center. We were losing money every month and taking our reserves to keep the senior center going. When Rick accepted the position of director we were within months of running out of money and potentially closing that valuable resource. Today, under Rick’s leadership, we are solvent and serving more than ever before.
We need Rick Currie. Please vote in the Republican Primary for Rick Currie, Representative District 4.
