MOSES LAKE - Late entries will be taken through Monday for the 3-on-3 basketball tournament during Spring Fest, May 23 and 24. Entries will only be accepted if there's space available in the bracket, organizer Sean Sallis said.

Sallis took two of the new basketball hoops to Moses Lake High School Wednesday to encourage kids to sign up for the tournament. The new hoops are sponsored by local businesses, he said. "We raised the money for all these," he said. With the help of those businesses he was able to buy five new hoops, bringing the total of hoops purchased in the last two years to 11, he said.

The tournament drew 78 teams last year, Sallis said, in divisions ranging from third graders to adults. (A new division, "Prime Timers" for players age 40 and older, is being added for 2014.)

The adult tournament starts Friday and continues Saturday, while the youth divisions, third grade through high school, play Saturday only.

Games are from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, according to the event website.

The tournament is street ball in the purest sense, with about three blocks of downtown closed to traffic and hoops set up in the middle of the street. This will be the tournament's sixth year, Sallis said.
