YAKIMA - Big Bend baseball (7-11, 16-13) lost precious ground in the race for the final playoff berth out of the NWAACC's East region after dropping two games against Yakima Valley.

The Vikings led early in game one, but allowed a four-run third inning by the Yaks who held on to win 4-3. Big Bend's bats were quieted in the nightcap and the team lost, 3-0.

After losing three in a row, the Vikings have slipped to sixth place in the East.

Big Bend led 2-0 after two innings before Yakima Valley plated four runners in the third. The Vikings added one run in the sixth, however the team's bid at a comeback fell short.

Jon Dailey was 1 for 4 with a double and Kyle Wagner smashed his second home run of the season.

Wagner and Jacob Yamane drove in one run each.

Big Bend was only able to spray three hits in game two as Yakima Valley's Collin Nord pitched 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball.

Dailey, Dylan Signorelli and Wade Ryan each notched a hit for the Vikings.

Big Bend will continue its road stretch against Spokane today. First pitch is schedule for 1 p.m.
