Ready, set, cast. The annual Lowland lake opening day of fishing is tomorrow. Perhaps the most popular areas, oh, we should say one of the most popular areas will be the Sun Lakes area of Blue and Park lakes.

Anglers are already waiting at the lakes, anxious to wet a line. The season begins at midnight, so I predict some anglers will have a limit of trout by 12:30. Others will spend the day enjoying the sport of fishing. PowerBait will be a popular bait.

Remember, the limit is five trout. Plus when fishing with bait, all trout equal to or greater than the minimum size are counted as part of the daily limit whether kept or released.

Example: Joan baits her hook with PowerBait. The first fish she brings to net measures 12 inches and she puts it on the stringer. Her second fish is 14 inches long and she keeps it. The third fish is 6 inches long and she releases it back into the lake. The fourth and fifth fish are both 12 inches long. Joan has four fish on her stringer, but her limit of five fish has been reached and she must stop fishing.

Grant County lakes scheduled to open tomorrow are: Blue, Deep, Mirror, Park, Perch, Warden and South Warden. License info: "Freshwater fishing licenses cost $29.50 for resident adults 16 to 69 years old. Fifteen-year-olds can buy a license for $8.05 and seniors 70 and older can buy an annual freshwater fishing license for $7.50. Children 14 years of age and younger do not need a fishing license."

A trip to Sun Lakes State Park is an attractive drive, even if you do not plan to fish this weekend.
