POST FALLS - Chris Sensel is moving up the Post Falls High administration ladder.

Sensel, who has been an assistant principal at PFHS since 2010, was unanimously appointed as the school principal by the Post Falls School Board on Friday.

He will replace Dena Naccarato, who has been principal for the past six years and will be the district's director of programs and instruction.

"In each of the positions he has held in the district, (Sensel) has demonstrated the intelligence, dedication and passion for students, staff and parents as well as the overall leadership skills that are necessary for him to be successful as the principal of Post Falls High School," said Super-intendent Jerry Keane, who recommended the appointment of Sensel.

The transition will occur after the current school year.

"I have really enjoyed working with PFHS students and staff over the last four years," Sensel said. "I am proud to be a part of that group. I have some big shoes to fill no doubt and look forward to that opportunity."

Sensel began working in Post Falls as a teacher at New Vision High School in 1996. He became the principal at that school in 2005.

Sensel served in the Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq in 2003 as a tank commander.

Naccarato will replace Barney Brewton at the district office. Brewton, who has held the instruction position along with being principal at Seltice Elementary, will stay the principal at Seltice.

Keane said Sensel's replacement, along with the assistant principal position currently held by Karla Merrill, is expected to be announced in the near future. Merrill will retire at the end of the year.
