Quincy officer accused of threatening clerk

QUINCY - A Quincy Police Department sergeant remains on administrative leave following allegations that he threatened a co-worker with a knife.
Quincy Police Department records clerk Diana Gonzalez stated in a protective order that Sgt. Dan Dopps allegedly walked by her desk and said "snitches get stitches" and showed a knife after Gonzalez complained to Quincy Police Chief Bob Heimbach about a different officer. He then used the knife to open a box on her desk.
Heimbach initially assigned Dopps to look into Gonzalez's complaints, according to the order.
"I believe he said this to threaten me and make me aware that when you go tell someone of a situation this can happen," Gonzalez stated in the protective order request.
Dopps is required by the order to stay 300 feet away from Gonzalez's home, but the order does not state that Dopps is required to stay away from her while at work.
The incident began in March and Gonzalez stated she is afraid for her life because Dopps carries a gun.
Another employee who worked with Dopps for seven years alleged in the order when Dopps gets mad, he can be heard yelling throughout City Hall.
"I do not believe he would harm me, but when he loses control I could be in danger and I do believe he might hurt Diana Gonzalez," wrote Lucinda Bepple
According to the order, Dopps "made a series of threatening statements to (Gonzalez) over many months, (Dopps) has closed doors which prevented other from being present when addressing (Gonzalez) and other clerks in (Dopps') work area."
Gonzalez would not answer questions about the incident, and Dopps and Heimbach were unavailable for comment.
