Delmar Ray Beamis

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Delmar “Del” Ray Beamis, 90, of Kingston, Idaho, passed away April 27, 2014, at Mountain Valley Care & Rehabilitation in Kellogg, Idaho.

Delmar was born October 1, 1923, in Spokane, Wash., the son of Albert and Olive (Baughn) Beamis. He attended school in Rose Lake. Del then served in the U.S. Army during WW II as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne in the Pacific Theatre.

On March 29, 1947, Del married Gerry Carpenter in Superior, Mont. They were married for over fifty years when Gerry passed away in September 1999.

In his earlier years, Del worked as a logger and a miner; he worked at the Bunker Hill Mining Company zinc plant for 20 years. He then owned and operated Beamis Excavating from 1967 - 2004, when he retired.

Del was a member of the Osburn VFW #1675, a member of the Eagles, and served as president of the Hunt Cemetery board. He loved to fish and hunt - he tagged his first moose at the age of 85! Del also loved and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gerry; parents, Albert and Olive; and three brothers: Ted Baughn, Glen Beamis and Eugene Beamis. Del is survived by four children: Trudy Matthews, of Baker City, Ore., Linda (David) Ingle, of Spokane Valley, Wash., Diana (Jim) Ross, of Othello, Wash., and Ted Beamis, of Kingston, Idaho; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Bachmeirer, of Smelterville, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 3, at the Silver Valley Worship Center in Smelterville. A reception and potluck luncheon will be held at the Church Fellowship Hall following services. Interment will be at the Hunt Cemetery of Kingston. The family suggests memorials be made to the Hunt Cemetery, P.O. Box 722, Pinehurst, ID 83850 or to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835. Shoshone Funeral Services & Crematory, Kellogg, Idaho, is entrusted with funeral arrangements. Please sign Del’s on-line guest book at www.shoshonefuneralservice.com
