ROYAL CITY - A tough season turned into heartbreak against Warden for the Royal High baseball team.

The Knights built a 6-0 lead in the first game and watched it slip into a 7-6 loss. Disheartened, they dropped the second game 17-1.

"The team was just not able to overcome the emotions from the first game," coach Darin Christensen said.

Royal jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the third inning behind several walks and a clutch 2-run hit by Riley Lefler. Aaron Johnson pitched a great complete game but came up short in the closing innings.

Warden had runners on second and third with no outs in the seventh. The batter hit a line drive that was caught for an out, and then there were two throwing errors that allowed both runners to score and win the game for the Cougars.
