One dead in crash near Quincy Monday night

QUINCY — A Quincy man died and three others were injured in a rollover crash Monday evening on state Route 28 about one mile east of Quincy.

Jorge A. Ventura Gonzalez, 26, was the passenger in a 1993 Honda Accord driven by Jose Ventura Acerda, 54, of Quincy, who was driving east about 5:30 p.m. when he reportedly drove across the center line, overcorrected and again crossed the centerline before the vehicle rolled, coming to rest on its top in the ditch, according to the State Patrol.

Jorge Ventura Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Ventura Acerda and two other passengers, Jose D. Ventura Gonzalez, 29, and Osvaldo Ventura Gonzalez, 20, both of Quincy, were injured and transported by aid to Quincy Valley Medical Center.

The State Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash an Ventura Acerda will likely not be cited.
