LEWISTOWN — The Glacier Twins and Mission Valley Mariners combined for 27 hits and 11 errors in a thrilling nine-inning loser-out baseball game at the Montana/Alberta American Legion State A Tournament on Friday afternoon with Glacier claiming an 11-9 victory to stay in the hunt for a state championship.

The Twins got off to a fast start, scoring five unanswered runs in their first three innings at the plate. They scored one in the first and two runs in both the second and third innings.

After the Mariners finally scored a run in the bottom if the fourth, the Twins nearly put the game away with three more runs in the top of the sixth.

Mission Valley, who defeated the Twins in the Western A District Tournament last week, showed their resiliency and used the bottom sixth to bring some life to their comeback effort.

Mission Valley scored five runs, driving Twins’ starting pitcher A.J. Wetsch out of the game.

The Twins remained composed and each team scored three runs in the eighth inning, but it wasn’t enough for the Mariners tournament hopes as they were eliminated by Glacier.

Colten Parker went 3 for 4 with a triple and an RBI to lead the Twins. Teammate Vincent Smith added two RBIs with a 2 for 5 effort at the plate.

Mission Valley was led by Alex Killian, who went 3 for 4 from the plate with an RBI. Jacob Harrod, Trevor Paro and Nyqolas Gillingham hit doubles for Mission Valley.

Glacier will play Belgrade today at 1 p.m.
