Raises sought for deputies

SANDPOINT — Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler is pushing for $2-an-hour raises for sworn deputies.
Wheeler is seeking the raises in a bid to keep sworn personnel from leaving the department for greener pastures with other agencies.
“A $2 wage increase will not be a panacea, but in my assessment, it will halt the continued exodus of those seasoned deputies,” Wheeler told county commissioners during a recent budget workshop.
