Jason Schnackenberg has played soccer since third grade, and after being in Libby his whole life and seeing his time as a Libby Logger peak at the 2014 Shodair Soccer Classic, he has a new goal to aim for: college.

Schnackenberg, a 2014 graduate from Libby High School, was most recently selected to play in the 2014 Shodair Soccer Classic, which brings talented Montana soccer players to Helena to support the Shodair Children’s Hospital. The Shodair’s men game was held at 7 p.m. on July 26. The Shodair is split into East and West teams, and Libby is included in the West team. This year, both East teams beat the West, the men’s team 8-2.

Schnackenberg was one of six players from a class-A school, and met rigorous standards to be selected for Shodair. Those chosen to play at the 2014 Shodair had to be 2014 graduates, play as an All-State player or All-Conference player in class AA or A or with the Christian High School Association; players also had to show strong leadership, ctizienship and scholarship.

While playing for the Loggers, Jason was selected as a All-Conference player, All-State and Academic All-State player. He also was named team captain and was given team leadership and sportsmanship awards. Schnackenberg was also an All-Conference and All-State tennis player and a three-time MVP for the Loggers’ tennis team.Schnackenberg said that even though he grew up in the area, he’s ready to move on.

“I’m ready to go to college,” Schnackenberg said. “I love Libby, but I’m ready to go.”

Schnackenberg will be attending Johnson University in Knoxville, Tenn. starting this fall. He will study preaching and church leadership.
