The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for the 2014-15 season-opening theatre production of “Harvey” on Aug. 17 and 18 at 7 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.

Arrive early to the Green Room to fill out an audition application and review the script.

“Harvey” is the 1944 Pulitzer Prize-winning comedic farce about Elwood P. Dowd and his imaginary friend, a six-and-a-half-foot tall rabbit named Harvey. Elwood introduces Harvey to everyone he meets, much to the dismay of his social-climbing sister, Veta, who decides to have him committed to a sanitarium to spare herself and her daughter Myrtle Mae from social scandal.

But when the doctors mistakenly commit his anxiety-ridden sister, Elwood and Harvey set off a hilarious whirlwind of confusion and chaos as everyone in town tries to catch a man and his invisible rabbit.

“This winsome comedy about a lovable eccentric casts a satisfying spell,” says the New York Times.

The cast will be composed of six men and six women, ages 21 and older. No experience is necessary and no preparation is required for the audition.

Nancy Nei is the director for this production. Total time commitment for this production is eight weeks of rehearsal Monday through Friday. There are seven performances over two weekends on Oct. 9-12 and 17-19.
