The city of Coeur d'Alene announced this morning that Lee R. White, an assistant police chief in Mesa, Arizona, will be the city's next police chief. He will assume the post Sept. 2.

In Mesa, White oversaw the department’s $157 million budget and was responsible for members of the investigations bureau. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University.

White was selected through an extensive search process. He will replace former Police Chief Wayne Longo. Ron Clark has served as Interim Chief since Longo's retirement last year.
