BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Kalispell’s Teigan Avery and Whitefish’s Coral Schulz missed the cut at the 46th annual Trusted Choice Big “I” National Championship finishing outside of the top 27 after the first two days of competition at the Pete Dye Golf Club. 

Avery, who won the Class AA state championship as a sophomore at Glacier last fall, finished at 29-over-par after two rounds. Schulz, who finished third at state competing for Helena Capital, was 42-over-par. 

One of the most prestigious tournaments in the country, the two local golfers competed with 55 of the best junior golfers from around the country. 

Rachel Dai of Milton, Ga., won the girls competition on Friday, finishing even par for the tournament, two-strokes ahead of the field. 

Keenan Huskey of Greenville, S.C., won the boys’ tournament, carding 4-under for the tournament to win by four strokes. Tate Tatom of Gallatin Gateway and Payton Stott of Billings missed the cut after two rounds.
