Whitefish has no one to blame but itself

I must add my comments to those of Mr. Crowder regarding the recent conclusion of the “doughnut” fiasco in Whitefish. I lived and worked out of Whitefish for more than 44 years. I raised my family and saw them graduate from high school there.
So, over those decades, I was very much a witness to changes that did not present any kind of kindness to so many “natives” who ended up having to sell out and move because of a continuous rise in taxes that literally broke their collective backs.
Needless to say, the powers that be did not give a hoot about those who were adversely affected by the ongoing nonsense promoted by them. And then there came the “straw” that broke the camel’s back when they had the audacity to tell the folks in the doughnut that they had NO SAY in matters related to their own property.
REALLY? Such an unbelievable arrogance toward those doughnut residents only capped years of such abuse relative to taxation without representation. Unbelievable!
I conclude by issuing “kudos” to our Montana Supreme Court for their timely judgment in this matter. It was long overdue. Kudos also to Flathead County for hanging in there. Whitefish made the bed, now they can sleep in it! —Don Gordon, Kalispell
