GLEN ALLEN, Va. — The Glacier All-Stars fell again on Tuesday at the Babe Ruth 13-and-under World Series, losing 8-2 to the Southeast champions from Greenville, North Carolina. The loss drops Glacier to 0-3 at the tournament, eliminating the team from playoff contention.

Glacier was overmatched by Greenville pitcher William O’Rear, who held the local team from Whitefish, Columbia Falls and Bigfork to three hits, zero runs and six strikeouts in five innings of work.

Behind that pitching, Greenville took an early lead and held an 8-0 advantage after O’Rear left the mound thanks to big innings in the first and third. They scored three runs in each inning, building a nearly insurmountable lead.

Glacier would find a short rally, putting up two runs in the seventh inning, before recording their third out on a pickoff play at first base.

Coby Clark-Dickinson, who also started the game on the mound, went 2 for 4 from the plate, as did second baseman Jack Schwaiger, to lead Glacier at the plate. Schwaiger had the only RBI in the contest, scoring Austin Varner on a double in the seventh.

Glacier fell to 0-3 in the tournament with the loss, tied with the New England champs from Waterford, Connecticut, for fourth place in the American division. The top three teams from each division advance, though neither Glacier nor Waterford can catch Greenville, now 2-2, in their final game of pool play.

Glacier will get a chance to end the tournament on a high note, playing Waterford at 8 a.m. today in the last game for both teams.
