SANDPOINT — Sen. Mike Crapo thinks America is still the greatest country in the world, but it has some serious problems to tackle.

At a townhall meeting Saturday morning, Crapo told North Idaho constituents that the national debt threatens to cripple the country. Unless something is done to curb $17.6 trillion figure, he suspects tough economic times are ahead for the nation.

Of course, figuring out how to accomplish that feat is an ongoing debate in Congress.

According to Crapo, everyone knows that they need to increase the government’s revenue. The disagreement between Republicans and Democrats is how to accomplish that and how to use the additional funds.
