Flathead Electric Cooperative is warning its customers about a scam happening in the valley.

People have reported receiving fraudulent phone calls from solicitors posing as Flathead Electric employees that ask for credit card or other financial or personal information.

One angle the scammers use is to say the customer owes on his or her account and service will be shut off immediately unless credit card information is provided. Both residential and commercial customers have  reported receiving these phone calls.

Flathead Electric advises people that it is not its policy to ask personal questions of its members or threaten members with disconnection.

If you receive a phone call that you find suspicious, do not give the caller any personal information. Instead, notify Flathead Electric at (406) 751-1820 and contact local law enforcement.
