Pilot to give talks at two local schools

Thunderbirds pilot Maj. Jason Curtis will have two school appearances on Friday.

From 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Curtis, a 1999 Flathead High School graduate, will be at Flathead’s back-to-school assembly.

At 10 a.m., Curtis will be at Flathead Valley Community College in the large community meeting room inside the Arts and Technology Building. Curtis attended FVCC before he went to the U.S. Air Force Academy.

At FVCC, Curtis will talk about his career, share a video on the Thunderbirds and discuss the importance of education and opportunities in the fields of math, science and engineering.

Curtis also will reflect on his time as an FVCC student. Students in the audience will be given the opportunity to ask questions.

Climate change awards announced

Climate Smart Glacier Country announced its Climate Smart Champions during a ceremony at the Earth Day celebration April 21 in Whitefish. Awards were presented to businesses, youth and an individual who are leaders in building local solutions to climate change challenges.
