Man's vehicle runs into house

Just before noon on Tuesday, the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an assault with a weapon in Marion. The woman calling said a man had driven his car into her house and then backed up and hit her vehicle in the driveway. The woman said that the man had been drinking and that he had done it on purpose.

The man told a different story — he said he had the vehicle in neutral while he was trying to put his dog in the truck, and it “got away from him” and rolled downhill and hit the house. Officers determined that the incident was, in fact, an accident.

A Columbia Falls man was advised of the law when he called to report a group of kids who were “preparing to plunge themselves off the bridge and into the river.” It isn’t illegal to jump off the bridge.

A Bigfork caller gave dispatch a daily report Tuesday afternoon that included his feeling that a “government SWAT team is in this valley somewhere.” Because of this, the caller requested extra patrol.

A caller on U.S. 2 East said that he received a suspicious phone call from someone claiming to be with the IRS.

An officer on East Evergreen Drive spotted an approximately 2-year-old girl in the middle of the road chasing a small white dog. There were no other adults or children outside with the girl. The officer contacted the girl’s father and grandmother and advised them that a child that age should not be outside unsupervised.

A concerned citizen called from Conrad Drive saying that she was receiving phone calls from someone who claimed she had hit her car and left a note on their vehicle. The woman said that she had done no such thing. She was advised to contact her cellular service provider to block the number.

A dog in dire need of help got a ride from a deputy on West Reserve Drive to the shelter for treatment Tuesday. The dog was missing lots of hair, had many open wounds over its body and had exposed bones on his front paws. The  deputy noted that he wasn’t sure if the dog fell out of a vehicle, was dragged by a vehicle or run over.


The Kalispell Police Department was called early Wednesday morning when a man was seen riding on the hood of a vehicle on Hutton Ranch Road. The man fell off the hood. Three juvenile troublemakers were sent home to their parents.

A suspicious man was reported on Woodland Avenue on Tuesday. The caller believed the man was going through cars and described him as a tall and thin with his pants hanging down. The man was wearing tan shorts, a white T-shirt and red underwear.

A concerned citizen on Third Street East complained about the heavy traffic flow coming down the alley at high speeds due to nearby road construction.

A peeved woman called from Glenwood Drive to say that her neighbor’s dogs keep defecating in her yard and the owner “does not care.”

A pickup truck was reported stolen on U.S. 93 South. The stolen vehicle alert was canceled minutes later when the caller realized he had just forgotten where he parked his truck.

Another caller complained about traffic on Tuesday, this time near Legends Stadium. This caller said he would start throwing things at the speeders going by and he “did not care if he damaged any cars.”

A white Oldsmobile was spotted with five people apparently sharing a marijuana cigarette on U.S. 93 North.

Two suspicious men were seen on Lupine Drive on Tuesday night, dressed in all black and wearing masks. The men appeared to be scoping out residences in the area, which has had burglaries recently.

A cashier on U.S. 93 South jumped to conclusions when she called police to report a theft late Tuesday night. While she was on the phone making the report, the man she suspected of stealing came to the counter to pay for his items.

Someone called in a man for indecent exposure from a location on U.S. 2 West after seeing him in the parking lot with his pants down. It looked like the man had been drinking.

Law enforcement officers were engaged in a high-speed pursuit of a motorcycle heading northbound on U.S. 2 East on Wednesday morning. The motorcycle reached speeds of 110 miles per hour and officers decided to end the pursuit.

A different motorcyclist apparently lost control in the parking lot of a U.S. 2 West business, which ended with the motorcycle on its side on fire. The motorcyclist was OK.


A woman called the Whitefish Police Department saying she had a verbal agreement with an officer who said he would help her make her Baker Avenue house more secure.

A man inside a Central Avenue business briefly disturbed employees by recording them with his laptop Tuesday morning. The man, who was described as middle-aged, was also talking to himself. He left the establishment before officers arrived.
