ROYAL CITY - SCAC East all-league selections were recently announced, and Royal and Wahluke High Schools were well represented.

Between the two programs, seven different players were honored on both offense and defense.

Royal's Teddy Mead was the only first team selection from either school on both offense and defense. He was chosen as an offensive lineman and defensive lineman. He led the SCAC with 11 sacks in the regular season.

Royal's Miguel Ayala and Wahluke newcomer Randy Foristiere garnered first team running back spots. Both were also second team honorees on defense, Ayala at linebacker and Foristiere as a defensive back.

Royal's Jose Ponce was the only player in the league to be honored at three positions. He was a first team selection at wide receiver and return specialist on offense and was also a second team defensive back.

Other two-way selections include Darrin Miller, Joe Lang, and Payten Stakkeland - all from Royal.

Royal linebacker Gerard Weyns was honored as the SCAC East defensive player of the year. He recorded 103 tackles in the regular season, including nine tackles-for-loss.
