HOME: Good place to be for holidays

I was particularly struck by a line from the “Black Friday sales fall as more people shop early” article in The Press. It said, in part:

“…the report suggests that more people avoided the crowds on Black Friday by avoiding time at home on Thanksgiving Day.”

How sad. It’s bad enough that retail stores start displaying Christmas trees and decorations well before Halloween but have we now gone straight from Labor Day to Christmas? Stores opening at midnight on “Black Friday Eve” was one thing, but now, per the new America, we just stuff the turkey down and head straight to the mall. Or, apparently, per the article, we don’t bother ourselves with the “lost time” of the meal at all.

‘Tis the season I guess. Ho Ho hum.
