Laura Rumpler, communications director for Coeur d'Alene public schools, just told The Press that parents have been alerted that students and staff have been evacuated and are on lockdown in the Panhandle Health District building adjacent to the school.

The students are safe, Rumpler said, and are not outdoors in the inclement weather.

"We are asking parents to refrain from calling or going to the school to allow law enforcement to clear the school building," Rumpler said.

Rumpler said a person called the bomb threat in to the main office of the school, north of Prairie Avenue on Honeysuckle.
