A house and barn were raided Sunday afternoon to rescue 30 dogs that were left in dilapidated and unsanitary conditions southeast of Plains. Details are scarce, but what is known is the resident of the home left this past Saturday with one dog and has disappeared. Volunteers and workers from TRACS Shelter along with two police officers entered the house with leashes, cable rods and food to clear the animals from the premises. Puppies as young as two weeks were taken from the home, along with dogs of varying ages. The dogs were loaded into crates to be taken to TRACS Shelter in Thompson Falls, where they will be vaccinated, cleaned and treated for any other ailments. Eventually, some of the dogs will go to foster homes and will be put up for adoption.
