MOSES LAKE - It took every last point for Moses Lake boys swimming to win its first meet of the season.

The Chiefs scored an even 500 points, narrowly besting Wenatchee's 499.5.

Quincy, among the smaller schools in attendance, scored 41 points.

Brenden Eslick took first place in the 200 freestyle with a state qualifying time of 1 minute, 47.66 seconds. Eslick placed second in the 200 freestyle at last year's state meet.

Zack Johnston and Madison Molitor notched a pair of second place finishes in the 200 individual medley and 50 freestyle, respectively. Molitor also won the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.41 seconds.

Moses Lake also placed first in both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Quincy's Riley Beaumont took first in the 100 butterfly and second in the 100 backstroke.

Othello's Hunter Sparks won both the 50 butterfly and 50 breaststroke.

Moses Lake continues its season Dec. 11 at home against Cheney.

Girls bowling

MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake girls bowling kept its undefeated season intact with a win over rival Wenatchee.

The two squads split the standard and Baker games, but the Chiefs were able to prevail on total pins 1,966-1,920.

"That was a team win and I'm very proud of the girls," head coach Billy Brice said.

Moses Lake began slow, losing the first game 762-804. Kim Mulder and Rebecca Benavidez led the Chiefs early on with 190 and 175 pins, respectively.

Led by 246 pins from Mulder in the second game, Moses Lake stormed back 850-805.

Mulder bowled seven strikes in a row.

"Kim bowled a beautiful game," Brice said. "She pretty much won the deal for us."

The Chiefs lost the first Baker game 160-171, but came back with a clean game in the second.

Moses Lake had no open frames and retook the total pins lead with a 194-140 win.

The Chiefs travel to fellow unbeaten Eastmont Dec. 9.
