FFA teams shine at national convention

Two teams from Flathead FFA represented Montana at the 87th National FFA Convention and Expo in Louisville, Kentucky.

Top teams and individuals were awarded either gold, silver or bronze emblems at the Oct. 28-31 convention. 

Flathead FFA achieved the silver emblem award in Livestock Evaluation and Forestry Career Development events.

The forestry team advised by Brian Bay includes Jayme Evenson, Brianna Erickson, Sandra Ek and Alexis Cahill. In the forestry competition, students are tested in their knowledge and skills in the area of forestry management.

The livestock evaluation team advised by Justin Heupel includes students Karly Hanson, Emily Hilde, Destiny Brewer and Livia Jackola.  

Flathead FFA members also competed for individual awards. Jackola earned a gold emblem. 

Silver emblems went to Brewer, Cahill, Ek, Erickson, Evenson, Hanson and Hilde.

The Flathead FFA Chapter is made up of both Flathead and Glacier high school students.
