WHITEFISH — Matthew Sampson was a double winner for Whitefish as the Bulldogs split Northwestern A dual wrestling action with Libby and Polson on Tuesday evening.

Sampson won by first-period pins in both outings at 156.

Whitefish defeated Libby 36-28 while Polson posted a 42-30 decision.

Skyler Bowerman’s pin at 170 in the Libby outing gave Whitefish the momentum in needed to stay on top.

“They were both close,” Whitefish coach Ryan Boyle said of the duals.

“The Polson thing was pin or be pinned. It was a fast dual.”

In that matchup, Polson had five pins to three for Whitefish. The other matches were forfeits.

“The Libby dual was real tight,” Boyle said.

“It could have gone either way.”
