A 26-year-old night janitor at Summit House at Whitefish Mountain Resort was seriously injured while loading the dumbwaiter Tuesday night.
The man suffered a “serious leg injury,” according to a press release from the resort.
He was with another employee who called 911.
Big Mountain Ambulance was dispatched and a paramedic was brought to the summit.
The injured man and the paramedic were taken down the mountain via a grooming snowmobile and then taken by ambulance to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
Whitefish Mountain Resort has shut down the dumbwaiter and is tapping a workplace safety consultant during an investigation into the equipment and the incident.
