PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Timberlake off to 7-1 start after another romp

CHATTAROY, Wash. - Allison Kirby scored 21 points to lead the shorthanded Timberlake Tigers past the Riverside Rams 65-32 in a nonleague game on Tuesday.

"I was really happy, especially with our defense in the first half," Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. "We had four kids that didn't play tonight due to injuries, so the seven that played, I was really impressed with their effort."

Shelby Starr scored 13 points and Jacqueline Mallet had 12 points for Timberlake (7-1), which hosts Cheney on Friday.

Hayley Pace scored 12 points for Riverside (0-3).

Erin Higbie, formerly of Coeur d'Alene High, had 15 points for West Valley.

COEUR d'ALENE - Emily Callahan scored 11 points for the Vikings in a nonleague loss to the Crusaders at Elmer Jordan Court.

"It was a horrible shooting night for both teams," Coeur d'Alene coach Dale Poffenroth said. "It wasn't a stall game because neither team could buy a basket. Northwest Christian is probably the best team we've played so far. They played well and could play well together at any level."

Madisen Scholwinski had seven blocked shots and Isabella Hollibaugh had six rebounds for Coeur d'Alene (4-2), which hosts Bonners Ferry on Thursday.

Courtney Gray scored 14 points for Northwest Christian of Colbert, Wash.

PLUMMER - Jordyn Nomee scored 10 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter, and the host Knights held on to beat the Lumberacks in nonleague play at Ron Miller Court.

Lillian Rhea also scored 17 points for Lakeside (3-4), which missed nine free throws in the fourth quarter.

Kelsey Auer scored 14 points for St. Maries (1-5), which trailed by five with less than two minutes remaining. The Lumberjacks scored a couple of baskets to edge closer, and had a shot at the buzzer to win it, but missed.

"It was a good game; I was happy with our effort," Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman said. "It was definitely a good win for us."

St. Maries returns to action Dec. 19 at Coeur d'Alene.

Lakeside is home vs. Kootenai on Thursday.
