POLSON – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints was at the center of a two-day Christmas celebration extravaganza Dec. 6 and 7 that offered participants the chance to drink in the awe of the Christian Christmas celebration.

In the church’s Polson gymnasium, community and other denomination church members brought and displayed 242 nativities, each one as unique and individual as its owners.

Tables full of nativity interpretations filled the room.

Bear-themed nativities, a sewing-themed nativity, two different Indian-themed nativities were on display. There was a puzzle-piece nativity, cross-stitched nativity, crocheted nativity, a nativity in an ornament, a nativity made of rocks, and many more. At the room’s center a giant Christmas tree decorated in white and sparkling gold stood beyond a centerpiece statue of Jesus Christ and surrounded by nativity scenes.

Church music piped into the gymnasium punctuated the event.

But The Light of the World A Celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ was a two-day event that showcased a variety of celebrations.

Members of the Flathead Flute Choir began a Saturday night musical celebration medley of Christmas songs. Afterward, the members of the Mission Valley Choral Society, which is made up of singers from a variety of area churches performed.

MVCS Director Mason Niblack led the group.

During the presentation nine-year-old Hadlee Seeman played a special piano performance.

On Sunday night, the church hosted a “Christmas Message” featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
