EAST WENATCHEE - This past weekend a trio of unattached USA registered swimmers traveled to Wenatchee for the Velocity Christmas Open swim meet.

Eric Kemper, Ian MacDougall and Luke MacDougall all had very strong swims over the weekend.

Eric had six first places; 100 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 100 fly, 500 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 200 freestyle.

He also had three second places; 100 breaststroke, 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke with a time drop of 1.53 sec for a best time of 32.75.

He swam the 200 breaststroke for the very first time and took 3rd with a time of 2 minutes, 53.07 seconds. Kemper also took High Point winner for the boys 11-12.

Ian and Luke MacDougall took over seven months off from swimming due to the Moses Lake High School pool reconstruction.

They were eager to get back into the pool and have been training for a few weeks up to this meet. Ian had five best times and placed between third and seventh in all 10 events he swam in this past weekend. Ian's highlight swim over the weekend was his 200 breaststroke; he dropped 6.21 seconds and placed seventh with a best time of 3 minutes, 11.55 seconds. Luke placed 2nd-4th in all 10 events he swam in and swam under 25 seconds on the 50 freestyle with a best time of 24.89 seconds.

All three boys have been training in the evenings at Moses Lake High School during public swimming. They have grown into great friends and have helped motivate, push and encourage each other to improve in a sport they love and excel at.
