THANKS: Supporters of Homeless Awareness Month

Family Promise of North Idaho would like to thank the community for all the events attended during November's Homeless Awareness Month. Many agencies held awareness events and they seemed well attended. We, at FPNI, would like those who not only helped raise awareness but also raised funds for our organization: First Presbyterian Church; Tony and Guy Hair Academy; Texas Roadhouse; Coeur d'Alene Living Locally Magazine; the students at Bryan, Fernan, and Skyway Elementary; Stein's Grocery Store in Rathdrum and their customers who purchased grocery items for our guests.

Thank you to the Coeur d'Alene Press for their thought provoking articles on the people who had to move out of the woods.

NEW VISION: Shopko grant will be put to good use

I would like to thank the Shopko Foundation for their recent donation to New Vision High School in Post Falls. Shopko awarded a grant to the school to be used for in-class and off-campus activities. We were able to purchase a ping-pong table which is used every morning and during any break during the day. The table gives some of the students a reason to come to school early to a safe environment and participate in a positive activity. We have also been able to take the PE class to River City Lanes to go bowling, and the students really enjoyed getting to do something that they don't normally get to do.

The generosity of businesses is what makes this community so great. Thank you Shopko Foundation!
