MOSCOW - Allison Kirby scored 21 points and the 3A Timberlake Tigers overcame 1-for-24 shooting in the first half to beat the 4A Moscow Bears 52-43 in nonleague play Saturday at Moscow High.

"We ended up getting a win. I don't know how, but we got a win," Timberlake coach Matt Miller said.

Timberlake (9-1) made 8 of 10 free throws and trailed 19-10 at the half. The Tigers hit four 3-pointers in the third quarter, and hit 10 of 22 field goals in a 42-point second half.

Shelby Starr hit two 3s in the third quarter and finished with 12 points for Timberlake. Payten Rhodes sank two 3s in the third, three in the half, and finished with 11 points.

Kirby made a 3 in the fourth quarter, and finished 16 for 16 from the free-throw line.

"We just finally made some shots; we got back in the game making some shots," Miller said.

The game was played in a cramped high school gym because Moscow Junior High, where the Bears normally play their home games, is still under renovation.

"There was hardly anybody there, and it was still standing room only," Miller said.
