ROYAL CITY - If you are a graduate of Royal High and wrestled and have been feeling like donning your singlet again, mark Dec. 29 on your calendar.

Coach Randy Miller and the Royal High School Wrestling team have scheduled an Alumni Wrestling Match on Dec. 29 at 6 p.m. You can wear the singlet and wrestle too.

According to Miller, several former Royal wrestlers have taken up the challenge by emailing their intentions. More, as many as possible, are welcome.

"This event will bring back some old wrestling moves, get guys back on the mat, and celebrate all the great moments from the past," Miller said.

If you are a Royal High School wrestling alumnus or know of someone who is, please contact Coach Miller at: rmiller@royal.wednet.edu

Please note your name, high school graduation date, weight wrestled at, current weight, accomplishments, etc. You will be matched with someone from around your graduating year and weight. Current weight, that is.

"The matches will be very low key so no one has to re-injure those old broken bones, not to mention the need to be back to work the next day," Miller said.

Matches will be three one-minute "running time" periods, and wrestlers will be able to call a time-out any time.

"We want this to be fun, sort of like a class reunion," Miller said.

The Royal Wrestling Team will be collecting donations at this event to pay for the program's new "Wall of Champions" sign in the wrestling room and work-out equipment.

"We hope that you can join us on this night and bring some laughs and excitement to the mat," Miller said.
