OLYMPIA - Big Bend women's basketball was able to win handily over a short-handed South Puget Sound team, 87-35.

Aubrie Vale scored a game-high 17 points with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The Vikings also shot a season-high 47.7 percent from the field.

"We shot really well tonight, which was kind of surprising," head coach Preston Wilks said. "We just had a four hour trip over here to Olympia. We didn't expect to shoot that well so it was nice to see that."

With the game well in hand and on the first night of a back-to-back, Wilks used this opportunity against the Clippers to spread minutes throughout his team. No player logged more than 25 minutes and everyone played at least 13.

The balance translated to the score sheet as four Vikings reached double figures in points: Vale, Max Shelley, Liz Larrew and Mackenzie Windley.

"Once we knew the game was kind of going to go our way we started resting our starters and making sure we had our sophomores nice and fresh for tomorrow night," Wilks said. "Olympic is a tough place to play. They're a really tiny gym, it's pretty loud, hard to shoot at and the hardest thing tomorrow night is going to be they've got a really good team this year."

Big Bend continues its road swing against Olympic tonight. The Vikings edged the Rangers by 1 point last season, a game the returning players haven't forgotten.

"I was really happy the sophomores remembered that game and how tough it was and I think we'll be OK," Wilks said. "I think our focus will be alright. I really feel like we're in a good spot right now."
