Quincy wrestling shuts out Cascade

LEAVENWORTH - Quincy wrestling had little trouble with Cascade (Leavenworth), shutting out the Kodiaks in a dual on the road.
Head coach Greg Martinez said it was a good bounce back performance for his team after losing a close dual to Warden on Friday.
"It was a good tune-up coming back," he said. "We go to Ellensburg tomorrow and I know they have some really tough wrestlers in their lineup so hopefully we'll be able to carry the momentum into tomorrow's match."
It will be a quick turnaround for the Jacks who travel to face Ellensburg tonight.
Tonight's dual against the Bulldogs will be the Jacks' last until Jan 6.
"The kids really haven't had time to decompress," Martinez said. "It's going to be a tough match tomorrow night. We're traveling to them. It's been two years since I've been in the CWAC, but they always had a tough team when we were there. We'll go and give it our best and see what happens."
After Ellensburg, Martinez will send his six state veterans to the Tri State Tournament in Spokane. The rest of Quincy's team will compete at the Cashmere Invite.
Tri State figures to be a good gauge for where Quincy's top wrestlers stack up against the rest of the state.
"I firmly believe that's how you become the best is you have to wrestle the best," Martinez said. "If these kids have a goal of earning a state medal or placing high then we need to test ourselves against that caliber of competition."
