New fire agency ponders name

SANDPOINT — With Sagle Fire District and Sandpoint Fire Department combining operations, local officials believe it’s time for a new identity.

Given the fact that they work for the community, they can’t think of a better source for that new name than a member of the public.

With the joint powers agreement between the two fire protection agencies approved by city officials, they are effectively a single entity in everything but finances, according to Fire Chief Ron Stocking.
