A two-vehicle rollover north of Somers just before 8 a.m. Thursday morning seriously injured one woman.

The accident — including the cause — is still under investigation by the Montana Highway Patrol.

Two vehicles were traveling southbound on U.S. 93 South when, for unknown reasons, the vehicles both ended up rolling over, according to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Thomas Manz.

The first vehicle, a smaller sport utility vehicle, was driven by a 25-year-old man who was not injured.

The vehicle behind him was driven by a 52-year-old woman who had to be extricated from her sport utility vehicle. She was taken to the hospital via ambulance.

The accident occurred at 7:52 a.m. at mile marker 105.

The Somers/Lakeside Fire Department, Lakeside Quick Response Unit and the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

The woman’s medical condition is still to be determined, Manz said.

“I don’t know if it was slick, but I know there was frost on the roads this morning,” Manz said. “How it happened is still under investigation.”

The accident was cleared and one affected lane of traffic reopened shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday.
