COEUR d'ALENE - Two teenagers were arrested Thursday by Coeur d'Alene police officers for alleged involvement in 24 recent burglaries in several neighborhoods along Ramsey Road.
Sgt. Brandon McCormick told The Press that the two teens were arrested after the police department was notified by a concerned parent that their child was in possession of possibly stolen property.
"Citizens who are victims of burglary or theft in these areas in the past few months who have not filed a report are encouraged to do so," McCormick said.
According to a press release from the department, the teens focused on neighborhoods north of Interstate 90 including the Rockwood Lodge Apartments, Park Place Apartments, Coeur d'Alene Place and Indian Meadows.
After reviewing recovered property and conducting interviews, detectives determined that the two teens were responsible for at least two dozen Coeur d'Alene burglaries and thefts in the past few months.
Detectives have recovered cash, knives, iPods, ammunition and other items from the two teens. The release stated officers are attempting to locate the owners of the recovered property and photos of the items will be available on the Coeur d'Alene Police Department's Facebook page.
McCormick added that five additional teenagers were interviewed on Friday by school resource officers and additional arrests may be made in connection with the burglaries.
